Josh Macleod: Wales flanker retains Scarlets captaincy

Scarlets have confirmed Wales flanker Josh Macleod will captain the side for a second successive season.

Macleod only managed three appearances last season because of ankle and knee injuries and has not played for nine months since facing Clermont in January.

The 27-year-old is close to a return, but will miss the United Rugby Championship (URC) opener against Benetton in Treviso on Saturday, with Gareth Davies leading the side.

“It is a massive honour for me and my family,” said Macleod.

“Personally, it has been a rocky couple of years, some pretty tough moments, but I am hoping to get back out there very soon.”
