Jess Carter of England women targeted by racist post, police say

A 19-year-old man has been charged with making a racist Instagram post about England defender Jess Carter.

Essex Police said a man was arrested in September after reports of a racist message targeting the Lionesses star had been posted online.

Aaryan Aggarwal, of Dickens Rise, Chigwell, has since been charged with sending a letter, communication or article conveying an indecent or offensive message.

He is due to appear before Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Carter was part of the England squad who created history by winning their first major women’s tournament at Euro 2022.

The 28-year-old spent six years at Chelsea before moving to US-based side Gotham FC in 2024.
