James McClean: Wrexham ‘capable of beating anybody’, says skipper

McClean’s teasing cross was tapped home by striker Moore as Wrexham led Preston after just four minutes in Lancashire.

The hosts spurned plenty of chances prior to Armstrong’s late equaliser, with goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo and the Wrexham defence in inspired form to frustrate Paul Heckingbottom’s side for long spells.

But McClean could not hide his disappointment at the way Wrexham let victory slip against the Lilywhites.

“When you’re winning with 10 minutes to go and you concede, of course you’re disappointed not to come away with three points,” added the Wrexham skipper.

“It’s a tough place to come and the conditions, you’ve seen it for yourself, are not ideal.

“The disappointing thing is, as much as we showed fight, we kind of stopped playing at times, then we start playing again when they score. You can’t be doing that, we’ve got to keep going, keep playing football.

“But on the whole coming here against a side in tough conditions, we take a point and move on.”
