Investigation into Highland crash that injured firefighters

The road at the crash site was closed for 12 hours for a police investigation.

SFRS said the appliance was responding to a 999-call on Skye under blue light conditions when the collision happened.

The animal rescue at Dunvegan was handled by other firefighters following the crash.

Area Commander Michael Humphreys said: “One male firefighter remains in a stable condition in hospital following a road traffic collision involving a fire appliance on Sunday.

“Three other firefighters involved have now been discharged from hospital and all staff are being fully supported.”

He added: “A joint investigation with the Fire Brigades Union into the incident is now under way.”
