Great Britain have been relegated from the top division of the World Championship following a 6-0 defeat by Latvia in Zurich.

GB started well but not convert their chances as Liam Kirk, David Clements and Brett Perlini all had shots saved.

Latvia went ahead when Martins Dzierkals scored from close range and extended their lead through Deniss Smirnovs and Rudolfs Balcers.

Latvia maintained their momentum in the second period as goals by Eduards Tralmaks, Haralds Egle and Renars Krastenbergs put them 6-0 up before a scoreless final period.

Defeat was GB’s sixth of the tournament as they remain winless before their final group match against Germany on Monday.

Latvia kept their quarter-final hopes alive with victory and face Hungary in their last group game on Tuesday.
