How to get tea and coffee stains off mugs: Simple solution uses £2 cupboard staple

How to scrub out coffee and tea stains with baking soda

Cleaning experts recommend using a sponge to scrub with your DIY cleaning detergent.

Sprinkle about 5 mL of baking soda onto the stain and a dash of water to maek a pasta before scrubbing the stain with a damp, soft sponge, according to experts at Better Homes & Gardens.

The “gentle and abrasive” nature of baking soda will help to lift the stains from the surface. After the stain is removed, make sure to rinse the mug to remove remaining sediments.

For super tough stains, you can also soak your mugs half way with distilled white vinegar then top it off with hot water.

Let the mixture sit for approximately 10 minutes before scrubbing off the stains with a sponge.

This cleaning hack can be useful for mugs and travelling tumblers alike, experts claim.
