Hampshire police station evacuated after suspected ordnance handed in

A police station was evacuated after a suspected unexploded ordnance device was handed in.

A 100m (328ft) cordon was put in place at Fareham Police Station in Hampshire after the item was handed to staff on Saturday lunchtime.

Surrounding buildings were also evacuated as a precaution.

Hampshire Constabulary said the Royal Navy Ordnance Explosive Disposal team was called to remove the device before the cordon was lifted.
