A 12-year-old girl has been taken to hospital in Aberdeen after being injured at school in an incident involving a knife.

Aberdeen City Council said it happened at Hazlehead Academy on Thursday morning.

The girl was collected by her parents and taken to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Police Scotland said it was a contained incident and there was no risk to the wider school community.

A force spokesperson said: “Inquiries are ongoing but officers are following a positive lead.”
