Leicester teenager George Pearson has signed a new deal with the Prem club just days after making his European debut for Tigers.

The 19-year-old academy product, who has featured at full-back and on the wing in domestic and continental cup competitions for the East Midlands club, made a noteworthy impression in Saturday’s 39-20 defeat at La Rochelle.

The England Under-20 international was shown an early yellow card, but once back on the pitch he created a try for Joaquin Moro with a devastating scything run.

Tigers have not disclosed the length of Pearson’s new contract, but head coach Geoff Parling said the club was “excited” to see how the teenager develops.

“As we saw in his first start in the Champions Cup, he’s an exciting attacking player with a great aerial ability, which is getting increasingly important in the modern game,” Parling told the club website., external

“He’s another with stacks of potential and huge ceiling.”
