CCTV shows suspected drink driver smash into tree in Bolsover

A suspected drink-driver was captured on CCTV footage crashing into a tree before fleeing the scene and leaving his badly hurt passenger behind.

The crash happened at about 00:50 GMT on Sunday in Station Road, Bolsover, and left the passenger needing hospital treatment, Derbyshire Police said.

The driver, a 28-year-old man, was later found nearly double the legal drink-drive limit, said the force, who have arrested and bailed him.

That arrest was one of more than 20 made during the first week of the police’s Christmas crackdown on drink and drug-driving.
