Castleford Tigers full-back Fletcher Rooney is set to undergo surgery for a hamstring injury that will see him ruled out for three months.

The 20-year-old pulled up during a reserves match on Saturday, injuring the same hamstring he did in 2025.

“The poor kid has had a few major injuries at a young age,” head coach Ryan Carr told BBC Radio Leeds.

“He’s done his knee early on, then his quad and his hammies.

“Something has to change. If we keep doing the same thing with him, it’s just going to continue to happen so we have to make sure we set out a specific program for him.”

The Tigers are also missing fellow full-back Blake Taaffe, who is currently recovering from surgery after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

Hooker Cain Robb and attacker Louis Senior have also both undergone surgery for their respective ankle ligament injuries.

Robb will make a return in four weeks, however Senior is expected to be out on the sidelines for 10 weeks.
