Father and daughter jailed for torturing man in Glasgow flat

The other woman at the flat eventually text a friend in secret and asked her to phone an ambulance and the police.

Firearms officers arrived at the property at about 17:26, where they found Craig wrapped in a duvet.

He told the police he had a broken leg and could not move.

Craig was taken to hospital with injuries including a hip fracture, dislocated shoulder, missing teeth and bite and strangulation marks.

He remained in hospital until 3 March and needed further rehabilitation for his leg injury.

John McGinley pled guilty to attempted murder with his daughter admitting to assaulting the victim to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and impairment as well as to the danger of his life.

Both also abducted the man and tried to extort cash from him.

Paul Nelson KC, defending the father, told the sentencing hearing: “During the evening, he was in another room, heard noise then he came back to see what it was.

“In the knowledge of the relationship between his daughter and the victim he then acted in the way libelled.”

The daughter’s KC John Scullion said: ” She has little recollection of the offence. She accepts full responsibility for her actions and has expressed remorse.”

Both have been banned from contacting or approaching the victim for life.
