Edinburgh roads closed during bomb disposal investigation

Several streets have been closed in Edinburgh as part of an investigation by bomb disposal crews.

Explosives experts shut off High School Yards near the Cowgate, while a nearby Salvation Army hostel was evacuated on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said several other road closures had been put in place and urged pedestrians and motorists to avoid the area.

The force said the investigation followed the discovery of “non-hazardous substances” at a property in The Pleasance.
