A 67-year-old biker is in a critical condition after a serious road accident in the Highlands.

The crash, which involved a black Mazda CX5 car and two Yamaha MT07 motorbikes, happened near Beauly at about 11:05 on Saturday.

Police said the 47-year-old male driver of the car, who was uninjured, was arrested in connection with road traffic offences.

The injured man was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. Officers said the second biker was unhurt.

The crash happened on the A862 Inverness to Ardullie road at Ballindoun, at its junction with the A833 towards Kiltarlity.

The road was closed for around eight hours to allow for police investigations.

Sgt Calum MacAulay said: “Our inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage to contact us as soon as possible.”
