Detectives have issued a description of a man suspected of raping a 16-year-old girl in a Glasgow park.

Officers said the teenager was pushed into bushes and attacked while walking near the Moongate, in Springburn Park, between 20:30 and 21:15 on Friday.

The suspect is described as being in his 30s, possibly European, with a tanned complexion and of average height and build.

He was said to be wearing a black baseball cap, black lightweight jacket and black trousers.

Police Scotland said the man fled the area after the attack and “extensive” inquiries to trace him were ongoing.

Det Insp Sharon McPeake described the incident as an “extremely shocking attack”.

She said the girl was receiving support from specialist officers.
