A recruitment drive for 200 new civil service jobs has been launched in the north west.

Stormont’s Finance Minister John O’Dowd announced 200 administrative officer roles for Londonderry, Coleraine, Limavady, Ballykelly and Omagh.

The Department of Finance said the successful candidates would work across different Northern Ireland Executive departments.

The posts will have a starting salary of more than £26,000.

Applicants are invited to register their interest and carry out a self-assessment of their skills and experience.

Then, around 600 of these will be invited to attend a recruitment event on 27 November in the Ebrington Hotel.

The minister said administrative officers were key to the smooth running of the civil service.

“Their contributions have a meaningful impact on the lives of people and communities here,” he said.

“This competition signals a move from traditional, annual campaigns to a more agile and dynamic approach to recruitment.”
