Debris and desolation as Storm Éowyn sweeps Scotland

Advertisements

Storm Éowyn is being felt across the central belt as a rare red weather warning has come into effect in Scotland.

The area covered by the high winds alert – which lasts until 17:00 – has been extended to include most of Dumfries and Galloway.

It already covered most of the central belt, including Glasgow, Edinburgh and some islands.

An amber weather warning is in place for the rest of the country.

Almost all schools in Scotland are closed and thousands of people are without power.

All ScotRail trains are cancelled, as are all CalMac ferries and many flights.
