Wrexham have re-signed Wales goalkeeper Danny Ward on a two-year deal ahead of their return to the Championship.
The 32-year-old Wrexham-born keeper was a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Leicester City.
A product of the Wrexham academy, Ward made one senior Dragons appearance in what was a second string side in the Welsh Cup in 2011, losing 2-1 to Airbus UK, before joining Liverpool in 2012.
“It’s an exciting time and an amazing feeling to be back at the club,” Ward said.
“I’m forever grateful for the opportunity that the Club gave me at an early age and I hope I can repay that.”
He made three senior appearances for Liverpool, with loan spells at Morecambe, Aberdeen and Huddersfield, prior to a £12.5 million move to Leicester in 2018.
Ward has 44 Wales caps, but has been back-up to Karl Darlow in the current World Cup qualifying campaign, having most recently started for Craig Bellamy’s side in the Nations League against Iceland in November 2024.
Ward will compete for the goalkeeper’s spot with Arthur Okonkwo and Callum Burton as Wrexham step up to the second tier for the first time in 43 years.

“He’s a keeper with a lot of experience and he’s going to be a great addition to the squad.”
