Firefighters across Wales have battled multiple wildfires in one day, with one suspected to have been started deliberately.

Crews in north and south Wales were called to several incidents on the Gower Peninsula, Camarthenshire and Llandudno throughout the day on Tuesday.

The largest wildfire covered 50 hectares at Reynoldston Gower on Tuesday morning, while a grassland fire near a windfarm in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire and a fire on Fairwood Common in Gower were both ongoing on Tuesday evening.

One blaze covering about 500 square metres on Cwm Mountain, Llandudno, is suspected to have been started deliberately as “youths were seen leaving the area” said North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

The cause of the fire in Reynoldston is currently unknown, but a previous fire last week was believed to have been started deliberately.

Around six hectares were still on fire near a wind farm in Ammanford on Tuesday evening.

Crews were also called to a separate blaze near Pontardawe Road, in Ammanford where 15 hectares were on fire, the blaze has since been put out.

No current threat to life has been reported in any of the incidents.
