Drivers have been asked to avoid a section of the M25 after a “serious collision”.
Essex Police were called to the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 between junction 27, near Epping, and 28, near Brentwood.
A police spokesperson said: “There is significant disruption in the area and we are expecting this to continue for a number of hours with possible road closures on both carriageways.”
The force has advised drivers to plan alternative routes.
