Rising star Miyu Yamashita tied an LPGA Tour scoring record as she surged to a dominant nine-shot victory at the CPKC Women’s Open in Canada.

The 25-year-old from Japan made an eight-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to complete a four-under 66 on Sunday and finish the week on a 23-under 257.

It matched Kim Sei-young 72-hole tour record lowest total, with the South Korean also carding 257 when finishing 31 under at Thornberry Creek in 2018.

Yamashita broke the tournament’s record of 262, set by South Korea’s Ko Jin-young in 2019.

Having dominated from the opening round, Yamashita headed into the final day with a six-shot lead and extended that with six birdies in a closing four-under 66 on the Royal Mayfair course.

Her compatriot Yuri Yoshida finished a distant second at 14 under par, while Kim Sei-young was another shot back in third.

It is a fourth LPGA victory in 13 months for Yamashita, who was named the tour’s rookie of the year for 2025 after winning her first major at the Women’s Open.
