A man has been charged to court following an arson attack in County Tyrone.

Police attended the scene of a fire at a property in Gortgonis Terrace, Coalisland, at about 23:40 BST on Sunday.

The fire was deliberately started in a bin which had been placed by a shed at the property, police said. Some damage was caused to the shed door, along with smoke damage inside the shed, however, there was no further damage reported.

There was no one in the property at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson.

He has now been charged with arson and is expected to appear before Omagh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
