Back-rower Carwyn Tuipulotu has joined Saracens on a short-term loan from Scarlets.

The 23-year-old is available to play during the return of the Premiership Rugby Cup next month, with Saracens facing games against Ealing Trailfinders, London Scottish and Harlequins.

The forward, who often plays at number eight, signed his first professional deal with the Welsh United Rugby Championship side in 2021 but has made only one league appearance so far this season.

Tuipulotu represented Wales at under-18 and under-20 level and joins the London club to provide cover with a number of internationals away for the Six Nations and with injuries across their forward pack, a club statement said.

He is the son of former Tonga international Katilimoni Tuipulotu and a cousin of former Saracens players and England internationals Billy and Mako Vunipola, while he is also related to Wales number eight Taulupe Faletau.
