Cardiff Devils captain Joey Martin has re-signed for the Elite League Play-Off winners for what will be his 11th season with the club.

Martin, 37, joined the Devils ahead of the 2014-15 campaign and won the Challenge Cup in 2015 and 2017 as well as the EIite League title in 2017 and 2018

He also won back-to-back Play-Offs in 2018 and 2019 but spent time playing in Norway and Austria when the Elite League was halted due to Covid-19 in 2020.

Martin returned to Cardiff ahead of the 2022-23 season and captained the side to victory over Sheffield Steelers in the Play Off final in April.

Ontario-born Martin was awarded a testimonial by Devils during the 2024-25 season.

Head Coach Paul Thompson spoke about re-signing Martin:

“I am delighted to have Joey back for another season. I loved my year of working with him,” Devils head coach Paul Thompson said.

“He drives us all every day on and off the ice with his leadership and commitment to this fantastic club.

“Getting our captain back in place was a priority for us.”
