Callum Wilson: West Ham agree deal for former Newcastle and England striker

West Ham have agreed to sign former Newcastle and Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson on a 12-month contract.

BBC Sport disclosed on 24 July that the Hammers were in talks with Wilson over joining as a free agent, after being released by Newcastle at the end of last season.

And a deal is now in place for Wilson to join Graham Potter’s side ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Wilson, who won nine England caps between 2018 and 2023, scored 49 goals in 130 appearances for the Magpies but failed to agree a new contract on Tyneside.

The 33-year-old was limited to just 18 Premier League appearances in 2024-25, two as a starter, and 20 the campaign before, after experiencing chest, hamstring and back injuries.

He had also attracted interest from other Premier League clubs and had options in Major League Soccer.

West Ham have already signed Jean-Clair Todibo, El Hadji Malick Diouf, Kyle Walker-Peters and Daniel Cummings this summer while the club has registered an interest in Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.
