Cafe bans screens to encourage ditching ‘doom scroll’

Customers at a Swansea cafe have welcomed the venue’s decision to ban phones and laptops for one evening a month.

Ground Plant Based Coffee in Brynmill wants the “offline nights” to encourage people to have more meaningful interactions.

One customer said it was a good opportunity to ditch the “doom scrolling”, while another admitted he initially hoped he had avoided showing up for the session, but surprised himself by liking it.
