Braintree textiles waste fire tackled by crews

Firefighters have been putting out a blaze involving about 600 tonnes of mixed textiles at a waste disposal site.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service advised residents near Convent Lane, Braintree, to keep windows and doors shut.

Crews from Braintree, Halstead and Coggeshall attended after it was reported at 20:59 BST on Sunday.

Watch manager Steve Byrne said crews were likely to remain on site into the morning.
