Boy, 17, arrested for Hogmanay weapon offence and hate crime

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested over a hate crime and an offensive weapon offence during Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations.

The teenager was allegedly found with the weapon on Frederick Street.

The same night, a man was charged in connection with offences relating to flying a drone.

Unmanned aircraft were restricted from flying below 2,000ft (above sea level) within one nautical mile of Edinburgh Castle over the course of Hogmanay celebrations.

Three other men, aged 22, 26 and 42, were arrested for minor public order offences and a 37-year-old man for an outstanding warrant.
