Newcastle Red Bulls have signed South African fly-half Boeta Chamberlain from Blue Bulls.

The 26-year-old will move to Kingston Park on a one-year deal at the conclusion of the Currie Cup season in his homeland.

Chamberlain has played in the United Rugby Championship for both Sharks – for three seasons – and Bulls last term.

He is the latest new arrival for the 2025-26 season after the recent signings of Australian lock Fergus Lee-Warner and Kiwi flanker Tom Christie.

They followed Argentina scrum-half Simon Benitez Cruz, Japan back-rower Amanaki Mafi, versatile forward Freddie Clarke, Scotland lock Jamie Hodgson and hooker George McGuigan in heading to Tyneside.

Chamberlain is excited to be joining Newcastle following their recent takeover.

“Red Bull are a massive brand, and clearly Newcastle are a team who are looking to take off in a big way,” he told the club’s website, external.

“It can only be a good thing for the sport, and to be there in the thick of it is really something special.”
