The body of a man who went overboard from a ferry more than four months ago has been found on an Argyll and Bute beach.

A major search was launched after the man fell from Western Ferries’ Sound of Shuna travelling between Gourock and Dunoon on 15 June.

HM coastguard crews, a helicopter, lifeboats and several private vessels searched the Firth of Clyde for hours after he was reported missing.

Police said that a body found at Kilcreggan Beach on 12 October has now been confirmed as the missing man. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
