BMX Freestyle World Championships: Pardoe leads GB as Reilly ruled out

Great Britain’s Olympic BMX freestyle silver medallist Kieran Reilly has been ruled out of this weekend’s UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in Saudi Arabia.

Reilly was among the favourites heading into Saturday’s freestyle park event in Riyadh, but suffered a setback related to the broken foot he sustained in April.

The 24-year-old from Gateshead – who landed two world-first tricks in Manchester before the injury – was hoping to win his second world title after his maiden victory at the 2023 World Championships in Glasgow.

Despite Reilly missing out, six British athletes will be competing with the men’s and women’s freestyle park finals live on the iPlayer and BBC Sport website and app on Saturday.
