Biker, 31, dies in crash with van near Alness

Police said emergency services were called to the B9176 on Wednesday night

A 31-year-old motorcyclist has died in a crash with a van in Easter Ross.

The man, riding a yellow Suzuki, died at the scene of the incident on the B9176 near Alness at about 19:20 on Wednesday.

The driver of the Iveco van was not injured. The road was closed for around seven hours for police investigations.

Sgt Christopher Donaldson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who had died at this difficult time.”

He added: “Inquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.”
