Beach-goers enjoy record May heat in New Quay, Wales

A seaside town was packed with visitors over the bank holiday weekend as people made the most of the sunshine.

Locals and holidaymakers in New Quay, Ceredigion, were filmed enjoying the beach, with one family saying it was the best weather they had experienced on a bank holiday trip to Wales.

The heat also led to a rush for cold treats, with staff at a local shop saying they had run out of ice lollies.

“I’d rather be in the sun than in the shade,” said one man enjoying the weather.

It came as Wales recorded its hottest May day on Monday, reaching 32.2C at Hawarden Airport in Flintshire.
