Ballygally: Swimmers advised not to go in sea at popular bathing spot

People are being advised against swimming at Ballygally beach in County Antrim, according to Mid and East Antrim Council.

In a post on social media, the council said that it had been notified by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (Daera) that “recent bathing water sample at Ballygally has failed to meet standards”.

The council advised people not to enter the water until results from water quality tests return to normal.

The guidance follows a period of heavy rain in the area which can often impact on water quality.
