China: Four killed and 90 trapped following coal mine accident | World News


At least four people have been killed and 90 others are trapped following a coal mine accident in northern China.

It happened late on Friday night, according to the Xinhua news agency, and it is believed 247 workers were underground at the time.

Reports suggest that carbon monoxide levels had exceeded safe limits at the site in Changzhi City.

It is believed that 16 of those who remain trapped in the Liushenyu coal mine are in a critical condition – with intensive rescue efforts under way.
