Arrest over car blast that killed eight in New Delhi | World News

A resident of Kashmir has been arrested over a car blast that killed eight people and wounded at least 20 others in New Delhi last week, India’s National Investigation Agency said.

The man was arrested in Delhi, the agency said on Sunday, adding the car in the attack was registered in his name.

The agency accused him of conspiring with the alleged suicide bomber.

The blast, which triggered a fire that damaged several parked vehicles, happened near the gates of the metro station for the Red Fort, a former imperial palace and busy tourist spot.

At the time of the incident, the fire service reported that at least six vehicles and three autorickshaws had caught fire.

The explosion outside the Red Fort was the first such blast in the heavily guarded city since 2011.
