Appeal over football shirt stolen from Nottingham art gallery

Police are trying to track down a stolen football shirt which was stolen from an exhibition at a Nottingham gallery.

The top, created by Brazilian artist Allan Weber, was on display at the Nottingham Contemporary as part of his first UK exhibition.

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Mr Weber made the jersey to celebrate a local youth football team that he founded, Cinco Bocas FC – whose players meet at his art gallery before and after matches.

On Sunday, police made a fresh appeal for information after the shirt has not been recovered since its theft on 3 March.

PCSO Megan Harlow said: “This is a special piece of artwork that was kindly offered to Nottingham Contemporary so that local residents could enjoy its unique appearance.

“It’s disappointing someone would take it upon themselves to steal it, and I’d appeal for them to do the right thing and ensure it is returned.

“Likewise, if you have any information about its location, please get in touch.”
