Alloa flat explosion that killed one man ‘not suspicious’

Mr Green was pronounced dead at the scene and his death was initially classed as “unexplained”.

But a force spokesperson said: “Following a post-mortem examination his death is not being treated as suspicious and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.”

Following the explosion a spokesperson for gas distribution company SGN confirmed that the incident was “not related to our gas network”.

The gas network comprises outside pipes and pipelines that lead to individual properties’ gas meters.

It is understood that gas may still be the reason for the blast, but not in relation to these external pipes.

Mr Green’s family paid tribute to him on Facebook and thanked emergency services who were involved in the aftermath of the incident.

It was captured on CCTV and described by a restaurant manager as “like a sonic boom”.

The investigation also involved the Health and Safety Executive.
