Airbus strikes suspended over improved pay offer

Planned strikes by Airbus workers have been suspended following an improved pay and pension offer, a union has said.

Industrial action at the company’s sites in Broughton, Flintshire, and Filton, near Bristol, had been due to take place over a three-week period from 2 September.

But Unite union said its members at the two locations would now vote over the offer in a ballot between 12 and 19 September.

“As a gesture of goodwill, all industrial action that was due to take place in September has been postponed,” said Rhys McCarthy, Unite national officer for aerospace.

The union added if the offer were to be rejected, strike action would begin on 23 and 24 September.

Unite represents more than 3,000 aircraft fitters and engineers at the company.

Airbus has been asked to comment.
