Huddersfield Giants captain Adam Clune has been ruled out for up to 16 weeks with a hamstring injury.

The 30-year-old Australian half-back suffered the injury in the 34-4 home defeat by Warrington earlier this month.

He was sidelined from June last year to March with a hamstring injury and has been restricted to 11 appearances over the past two seasons.

“It’s been frustrating not being able to stay out there consistently and play the footy I know I’m capable of,” he told the club website, external.

“More than anything, I want to be out there with the boys because I genuinely believe this team is capable of success.”

The Giants are bottom of the Super League table and host second-placed St Helens on Thursday.
