Watch as drink-driver crashes into listed building in Nottingham

A drink-driver who crashed into Nottingham’s Guildhall building after losing control of his vehicle has been banned from the roads for 16 months.

Melvin Mugambe, 20, ploughed into the corner of the listed building at the junction of South Sherwood Street and Burton Street, shortly before 04:00 GMT on 2 December.

A breath test recorded 59 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – 24 microgrammes over the legal limit, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Mugambe, of Church Street, Old Lenton, pleaded guilty to driving while over the limit for alcohol and dangerous driving at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 18 December.
