A large fire has broken out at an electricity substation in north-west London, sending flames and heavy clouds of smoke into the air.

More than 100 firefighters are tackling the blaze on Aberdeen Place, near to Edgware Road, where an electrical transformer and the roof of a neighbouring building have caught alight.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) said it was called to the substation at about 05:30 BST and had received more than 160 calls about the “very visible” fire.

There have been no reports of any injuries, although LFB has advised local residents to keep their doors and windows closed.
