Ongar boy killed in lorry collision had kindest heart, says mum

An 11-year-old boy who died after being struck by a lorry had “the kindest heart”, his mother has said.

George Dennis was fatally injured close to a pedestrian crossing in Epping Road, Chipping Ongar, Essex, at 16:20 BST on 10 July.

The lorry driver, a 48-year-old man from Derbyshire, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Emma Dennis said her son would be “loved forever, missed every single day and remembered always”.

More from Essex

Tottenham Hotspur fan George played football for Ongar Juniors and was a pupil at the village’s Moreton Primary School.

“George was a bright light in our lives. He had the kindest heart, a cheeky smile and a personality that was truly one of a kind,” his mother said.

“He was full of life, always making people laugh and brought so much happiness to everyone who knew him.”
