Patients evacuated after fire breaks out at Malton Hospital

A large fire has broken out in a North Yorkshire hospital building, with patients evacuated.

Fire crews are in attendance at Malton and Norton District Hospital, where plumes of smoke can be seen billowing into the air.

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said all patients had been safely evacuated, with no reports of any injuries.

Residents have been asked by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution, with people told to avoid the area to allow access for emergency services.
