This is the moment before a man repeatedly punched a police officer in the face and head, fracturing his cheekbone and breaking his nose.

Richard Nodwell, 37, was spoken to by Gwent Police officer Nathan Attwell who was responding to a 999 call in Cwmbran, Torfaen, and became increasingly agitated during the conversation.

He then attacked PC Attwell, punching him multiple times to the face before pushing him to the ground in the incident on 20 December 2024.

PC Attwell was hit at least 12 times in the attack and was taken to hospital after suffering significant facial injuries.

Nodwell pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent, grievous bodily harm without intent and two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker. He was given a sentence of nine years and four months, including an extended licence period of three years.
