Dublin rioting: Five men charged in connection with disorder

Thomas Fox, 21, of Kinlay House, 4 Lord Edward Street, was charged with violent disorder on Burgh Quay, the burglary of Footlocker and criminal damage to a Dublin Bus.

He was also charged with unlawful possession of cocaine and cannabis for sale/supply, following the search of his hostel room when he was arrested.

A bail objection was made.

Corey Gaynor, 23, of Margaret Kennedy Road, was charged with rioting on O’Connell Street Upper, burglary of Spar O’Connell Street, burglary at Arnotts, burglary at Guud Day Café and possession of stolen property.

He was remanded in custody.

Gavin Murphy, 48, of Oriel Hall, was charged with burglary of Footlocker O’Connell Street.

He made no reply to the charge and was released on bail.

He will sign on three days a week at Store Street Garda station and was ordered to stay away from O’Connell Street.

Gavin Hudson, 27, of Summerhill Place, was charged with burglary of Footlocker Mary Street and burglary of Lifestyle Mary Street.

It is alleged he stole a navy and white Totto backpack worth €30 (£25), headphones and a kettle worth €100, a mix of cosmetics and creams worth €100 and an electric bike battery worth €150.

When charged, Mr Hudson told gardaí (Irish police) he was “sorry”.

The court was told Mr Hudson was in the advanced stages of HIV and had not had access to his medication for two days.

Judge Monika Leech said due to the circumstances regarding his health she would grant bail.

He was ordered to sign on in Store Street Garda Station and to stay away from Henry Street and Mary Street.

Jamie Robinson, 24, of Windmill Avenue, Crumlin, was charged with burglary of Gala Shop, Lower Abbey Street. It is alleged he stole a puma hoodie, socks and eight boxes of cigarettes.

Due to having a three month old child near the Dublin 1 area, he was ordered to stay away from O’Connell Street and Abbey Street only.

A curfew was applied from 23:00 to 06:00.

All men are due in court again at a later date.
