Dasilva savours debut despite Wales’ drab display

Jay Dasilva was disappointed with Wales’ 0-0 friendly draw with Gibraltar but “buzzing” having won his first senior international cap.

Dasilva qualifies for Wales through his Pontypridd-born grandmother.

The 26-year-old Coventry left-back was first called-up by Wales last November having been capped at every level by England from under-16 to under-21.

“It’s such an honour to finally make my debut and wear the shirt for the first time. I’ll remember it forever,” Dasilva said.

“This is my third camp, so I’ve had to be patient to get some minutes.

“I got the opportunity and hopefully it’s the first of many. I’ll keep working hard, try to impress and just win more caps.

“The result wasn’t what we expected and we’re disappointed, but personally I’m buzzing.”

Wales have faced criticism after being held to a drab goalless draw by Gibraltar – ranked 203rd in Fifa’s world rankings – at the Estádio Do Algarve in Portugal.
