Speed cameras: Police investigate damage to three in Swansea

Police are investigating attacks which damaged three speed cameras within a few kilometres of each other.

One involved two people seen cutting down a speed camera on Llangyfelach Road, Treboeth, Swansea, which was filmed.

That happened in May, and South Wales Police is also looking into damage to cameras in the Clydach and Pontardawe areas between October 2023 and April 2024.

In the most recent incident, two people can be seen on video cutting a post with a camera, before it crashes to the ground.

At the time, Swansea council said speed cameras were strategically placed along routes where there had been a previous concern with high speeds, and often led to serious crashes.

It urged the public to report any information they have about those carrying out “this senseless act of vandalism”.

Police officers are asking people with information to get in contact with them.
