A train has hit a tractor and trailer on a level crossing in Herefordshire, bringing rail services to a halt.

The train has not been derailed, but some people on board the Manchester-to-Cardiff train are understood to have suffered minor injuries.

Ambulance crews were called to an incident on the track at Nordan Farm, Leominster, just after 10:45 BST.

British Transport Police said six people were being assessed.

The air ambulance has been deployed, alongside land ambulances and paramedics.

Transport for Wales (TfW) said services had been stopped after the 08:30 from Manchester Piccadilly struck the vehicle on a crossing between Ludlow and Leominster.

National Rail said all lines were blocked between Hereford and Craven Arms, and services between those stations would be cancelled or changed, with disruption expected until 19:00.

A TfW spokeswoman urged people to check before travelling and said tickets would be accepted by other operators.

Advice issued by TfW for people planning to travel included that a ticket acceptance scheme was being put on place on services run by Northern, Avanti, GWR and CrossCountry.

The BBC understands British Transport Police are dealing with the crash, but the force has not yet commented to the BBC.
