Taulupe Faletau has signed a new one-year contract with Cardiff to remain at the Arms Park.

The Wales and British and Irish Lions great’s previous contract expired at the end of June but the 35-year-old back row has now agreed to another season with the Blue and Blacks.

“I’m thrilled to sign another contract at Cardiff. The club feels like home and we made some great progress last season,” said Faletau, who has 109 Wales caps and six Test outings for the Lions.

“We have improved year on year, now qualifying for next season’s Champions Cup, and I’m really looking forward to playing my part.”

Since signing for Cardiff in 2022, the three-time Lions tourist has made 30 appearances for the capital city club – a total limited by injuries including a season-ending shoulder injury suffered in April, which came on top of previous knee and calf issues.

“On a personal level, the past couple of seasons I have had some frustrating injuries but I’ve been pleased with my form when I’ve played and I want to give more to this club and the group of players,” he added.

“There is a lot of competition in the squad and everyone is pulling in the same direction.

“Playing at the Arms Park is always really special and I am looking forward to getting back out there with the boys and giving everything I can to the club in its 150th season.”
